Trenching Shoring Refresher
The purpose of this training is to make sure the employees are working is safe conditions. All participants will receive a binder at the beginning of class – that is theirs to keep. OSHA states there shall be a competent person on all trenching and excavations joists. The competent person will be responsible for the jobsite his employees are working on. OSHA defines a competent person as one who is capable of identifying hazards in the surrounding or working conditions which are unsanitary and dangerous to employees.
The candidate must be able to take prompt corrective measures to eliminate them. The company must make sure the competent person is trained and they have the company's full support.
When it applies to trenching and excavations – the competent person must have specific training in and be knowledgeable about, soil analysis, the use of protective systems and the requirements of this standard and have the authority to take immediate and corrective action if a hazards exists.
At the conclusion of this seminar participants should be able to:
Display extensive knowledge of 29 cfr 1926 – subpart p - excavations Demonstrate correct soil testing procedures Identify hazards Understand the different types of protective systems Laminated wallet card and certificate upon passing the test Regarding : Trench Safety
The only requirement is for the Competent Person, Trenching & Excavation they have to carry a card stating they have had the training, and be designated as the Competent Person by the employer. This class is 6-7 hours in length
If it is for trench safety, we can do it as a hands-on if there is a trench available to install shores and remove them, where and when to use them and what other equipment to choose if the situation changes. They do not receive any type of certificate.
All training is performed in accordance with Federal OSHA, applicable State-chartered OSHA, and other State Regulations and local Ordinances.
